Jack Liam Duree, 23, from Castleford was already serving a suspended sentence for another matter when police were called to his home in August of last year, Leeds Crown Court was told.
They had attended over a domestic dispute but when they arrived they found bags of cannabis around the property amounting to more than two ounces.
They also found scales, small bags and cash, however, they said there was not enough evidence to support a charge of drug dealing, prosecutor Jessica Randell said.
Duree, of Tees Close, admitted a charge of possession of the drugs, and breach of a suspended sentence.
He has previous convictions for driving while banned, and was sentenced to 15 months’ jail, suspended for two years, last year for robbery and criminal damage.
