Voters are poised to make history and vote to legalize marijuana in New Jersey this Nov. 3, several polls show.

But that won’t automatically flip a switch and allow adults to legally buy weed for recreational use the very next day.

New Jersey lawmakers must still pass a bill to enable the marijuana industry to operate here, nailing down the specific rules and regulations. And new marijuana dispensaries will have to go through a rigorous licensing process before they can open and meet the demand.

So it isn’t vote one day, legally light up the next.
